We go over blood sugar basics, how food, medication, and activity impact levels, and what to do if blood sugar is too high or too low. It also covers A1C, general treatment approaches, and when to seek medical care.

There’s a strong focus on everyday nutrition, like simple meal planning, portion control, and realistic ways to support healthy eating. We also talk about working within a person’s preferences, culture, and budget, and how to support small, manageable changes that actually stick.

Approaching caregiving from a trauma-informed lens can help you better care for your clients, your loved ones, and even yourself. Through this free, online certification training, you’ll learn how trauma impacts people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You will also learn caregiving approaches that deal with the effects of trauma compassionately and effectively. The Life Cycle Changes training course will educate individuals on the different stages of life and Erik Erikson’s Stages of Psychosocial Development and how this relates to themselves, their family and patients they interact with. Participants will gain an understanding of the psychosocial effects of aging on multiple aspects of a person’s life. Additionally, they will learn skills to manage and cope with the stress associated with these changes.

This training focuses on understanding Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, including how they affect the brain, behavior, and daily life. We cover the differences between dementia, Alzheimer’s, and mild cognitive impairment, along with the stages of the disease and how needs change over time.

The session is very centered on person centered care, getting to know the individual, understanding their needs, and adjusting care accordingly. We also go over communication strategies, how to respond to behaviors, and how to identify triggers in the environment. The goal is to help PAs feel more confident supporting individuals with dementia in a way that’s calm, respectful, and effective.
