1199SEIU represents consumer-directed caregivers across the East Coast

As CDPAP caregivers, we look after loved ones and we care for our communities. At 1199SEIU we’re guided by a mission to achieve quality healthcare for all and good jobs for caregivers. We are a healthcare workers union representing over 400,000 healthcare workers across five states, including 150,000 homecare and consumer-directed caregivers in New York, Massachusetts and Maryland. In New York state alone, 75,000 home care & CDPAP workers have come together to successfully negotiate union contracts. In August 2025, over 3,000 consumer-directed caregivers like us in Massachusetts voted to join 1199SEIU.
