This training gives PAs a practical overview of diabetes, including the different types, common symptoms, and how it affects the body. We go over blood sugar basics, how food, medication, and activity impact levels, and what to do if blood sugar is too high or too low. It also covers A1C, general treatment approaches, and when to seek medical care.
There’s a strong focus on everyday nutrition, like simple meal planning, portion control, and realistic ways to support healthy eating. We also talk about working within a person’s preferences, culture, and budget, and how to support small, manageable changes that actually stick.
